Working with a partner, I created an “Artists in Residency” program for the San Francisco Zoo. We installed an initial art installation titled “170 Bottles” in which we strung 170 bottle filled with soil and a seed from trees around the zoo.
Formal proposal given to the zoo with guidelines and resources for implementing the program.

My sweet baby has always been safe in his father's arms, but that is not a right given to many across the world. Middle Eastern men have been demonized for centuries as barbaric sword wielding creatures out to defile civilization (or more accurately Whytness). The truth that we have seen these many months is that Palestinian men have been digging bare handed through the rubble, screaming for their children, holding each others sadness, carrying their elderly parents, and generally wearing their fully human, open hearts on their sleeves in the midst of horrors that most of us can not imagine. Palestinian men, Palestinian fathers deserve the right to care for each other, and their families in the joy of safety and equality.
And that my friend's is my Father's Day Sermon on the shit show that we are watching.

You knew I was going to go there. Everyday, 37 mothers are killed in Gaza. EVERY SINGLE DAY. It's been estimated by the Lancet that over 600,000 people have been killed in Gaza in the last 15 months. How many motherless children has that made?
I love love love being a mother. After all the effort and heartbreak that went into the process, I can't believe I get to love and learn with this sublime creature. And I am not unique. Every parent thinks their little kiddo is amazing and perfect for them. That's true for every mother. As the child of diaspora, I know that I am not more deserving of raising a child in (relative) safety than the mothers of Gaza, and Syria, and Sudan, and Tigre, and Iran, and and and. I will not be silent. But I bet you already knew that. I will not ignore the fact that me and my tax dollars, and my government are facilitating a genocide against indigenous Palestinians.
